Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a Colorado resident for tuition purposes
  • Be admitted to Colorado State University
    • Students pursuing programs solely offered through the Division of Continuing Education (CSU Online) are not eligible
  • Be pursuing a first bachelor’s degree
  • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by:
    • August 1 for students enrolling fall only or both  fall and spring semesters
    • January 1 for new students entering CSU in the spring semester
  • If requested by CSU Student Financial Services:
    • Provide additional financial information beyond what is collected on the FAFSA
      • If your parents are divorced, separated or never married, the parent not included on your FAFSA may be asked to provide their financial information as well
      • Eligibility for Commitment to Colorado funding will be determined based on an analysis of this additional financial information, if it was requested
    • Students not asked to provide additional financial information beyond what is collected on the FAFSA may still be eligible to receive Commitment to Colorado funding if all other eligibility requirements are met
  • Be enrolled full-time (12 or more credits – including at least one Resident Instruction, on-campus course)
    • Students pursuing programs solely offered through the Division of Continuing Education (CSU Online) and taking only CSU Online credits are are not eligible
  • Have no other financial assistance that exceeds the cost of attendance
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Have attempted less than 130 credits
